Civil defence of Cuba always evaluates all the risks that may have the nation and the adoption of measures to reduce them |
Faced with the threat of the storm Isaac, Civil Defense of Cuba triggered the command posts of the eastern provinces. The greatest danger is the volume of water that carries the storm. Rains spilled dams and rivers with the consequent loss of economic and perhaps human, if protection measures are not taken.
Isaac step updates the action of hurricanes in Cuba, whose geographical location in the middle of the Caribbean Sea become transit of many storms and cyclones that move through the area.
The more
fateful hurricane that are remembered is the Flora, which destroy the eastern portion of Cuba in 1963 with winds of up to 220
kilometers per hour. It punished the current eastern provinces. Flora killed nearly 2,000 people and incalculable economic damage.
Then the system of civil defence of Cuba had no effectiveness. It
had been created a year before the cyclone Flora and had no experience or a well structured organization to respond to extreme weather events.
Today
the National Civil defence of Cuba, with organization in each province,
municipality and constituency, is an example to Latin America and other
countries of the third world.
Isaac
storm will put to test, once again, the efficiency of the National
Civil defence of Cuba, whose territorial controls are informing the
population, by all means of communication, the trajectory of the
climatic phenomenon, its main features and measures to avoid major
damages.
