Chile: Mapuches start hunger strike

We only have the dignity of a people that refuses.
As a crowd of 150 thousand students, teachers and parents marched in Santiago against the educational policy of the Chilean Government, at the headquarters of the United Nations Fund for children (UNICEF), the Mapuche Indians, who remain for 30 days in this Office, began a hunger strike claiming the passivity of UNICEF to the abuse of children and young Mapuche Chileans.

The indolence of the international agency has forced the mapuche people to radicalize its struggle measure that could reach the call of a massive March.

The mapuches clarified that they are inflexible with their demands to the United Nations because the Chilean State is developing a unequal war against them, since they use their weapons against their children, elders and women.

Thats why Mapuches have started a hunger strike in offices of United Nations because the State has criminalized their fight considering them as terrorists the indifference of UNICEF.

They are demanding the United Nations fulfil its role to promote, protect and defend the rights of the mapuche people.
