Shipibos indians take oil wells

Natives defend their lives.
Since 10 days hundreds of indigenous shipibos of the Amazon community Cachiyacu Caanan (Ucayali-Peru), they keep taken nine oil wells of the company Maple Gas Corporation, in search of solutions by the pollution of the extractive activity. The company is dedicated to the exploration, exploitation, refining, distribution and marketing of hydrocarbons and their derivatives.
 
Indigenous peoples require the company, pollution produced in their territories, the payment of compensation. They have denounced as 37 years of pollution of waters and soil by the use of chemicals and heavy minerals, which has become sterile their land.

Many natives are sick and directly the company is blamed  for neglect of their waste reaching up to the Mashiria Gorge. The water that has to be consumed by the settlers; is the River their font since they do not have water wells.

Last year, was an oil spill in territory of the native community new Sucre, in the region Loreto, also under the responsibility of Maple. A Commission was formed to remedy the damage, but government authorities are thus subject to date.
