Puerto Rico: Drug traffick in its bowels

Unstoppable growth of the drug consumption.
Close to fifty contractors and employees of Puerto Rico International Airport were arrested recently in a raid against networks of trafficking in cocaine and heroin that came running through American Airlines flights. Among the detainees is the car driver of a  senator of that country.

According to official information, members of this drug network have carried drugs in backpacks, bags, suitcases, also hidden in the body, using official vehicles of the airport passing through the areas of exclusive access for employees.

For its part, the American airline American Airlines said in a statement that will continue to contribute with the authorities to investigate this case and these actions must not damage the hard work carried out by tens of thousands of employees.

The drug traffickers not only used their positions and security access for the smuggling of large quantities of illegal narcotics, but that also endangered the safety of one of the most important airports of the Caribbean.

Puerto Rican authorities indicated that  the investigation involved, anyway a commercial airline, and a maintenance company that provides services to other eight airlines.
