Armony and balance with nature. |
The Bolivian President, Evo Morales, promulgated the law of mother
earth and development to live well, which aims to seek comprehensive
development in harmony and balance with nature. Morales stressed that if
does not preserve nature, mother earth, Pachamama, the environment or
whatever it is called; If not cared for, there is no life.
The new legislation
guarantees the continuity of generation of components and systems of
life on mother earth, recovers and strengthens the local knowledge and
ancestral knowledge.
According to the
representative the Bolivian people should consider work to live, not to
become rich, but to have what they need. He explained that the main
debate is how preserving mother earth, both internally and externally.
This law introduces
the ancient Indian concept of nature as a living being, of which human
beings are one creature, and we do not mistreat the nature, because it
is more important than us, because you have the right to live.
The Bolivian Vice
President Álvaro García said is a beautiful Act that was born out of
social organizations, which includes the mode of thinking and living
First Nations, into the Bolivian and Bolivian law.
Garcia recalled that
there are currently capitalist interests who supposedly want to defend
nature but that attempt to actually make money with their strategies.
He spoke about the
so-called green capitalism and noted that many national parks in Bolivia
and in Latin America are protected by companies that receive money to
implement such a policy. They have taken over our forests, which is
another form of colonialism, and we want to become caretakers of the
forest, he stressed.
Added that in the
indigenous territory and Park national Isiboro - Secure (Tipnis) has
become what groups or non-governmental organizations supposedly
protectors of the environment take the State and those who want to enter
there, but actually what they do is make money, that is called
capitalism green, stressed.
Our law says we are
going to live in balance and complementarity with nature; We are going
to take care of the forests and the Amazon, but for us, not for the
Yankees, he said.
The new law declares
the right to use the resources, but without squandering, so that
communities meet their basic needs, without destroying the environment.
